Newton Corner emerged as a rural village in the 1600s and is anchored around the Newton Corner Interchange, a key intersection point for the Massachusetts Turnpike and various MBTA bus routes. The village contains several businesses, community hubs, and historic sites such the Jackson Homestead & Museum.

Newtonville came into prominence in the late 1800s, developing around Newton North High School and the Newtonville railroad station. The neighborhood boasts a lively, walkable commercial core and is known for its historic 19th century suburban architecture.
